The Minister of People’s Power for Petroleum, Manuel Quevedo, said through his account on the Twitter social network, that the National Government condemns “these unfounded accusations, whose objective is to deepen unilateral coercive attacks against the Venezuelan people”.
In the same tweet, he ratifies Venezuela’s commitment “to preserve life on Mother Earth, as established by the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Law of the Homeland Plan”.
In addition, the Ministry of People’s Power for Petroleum issued a Communiqué, detailed below:
“Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) categorically rejects the statements of the Minister for Environment of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Ricardo Salle, who accuse the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela of being responsible for the crude oil that has been polluting the beaches of northeastern Brazil since early September, considering these claims are unfounded, since there is no evidence of oil spills in the Venezuelan oil fields that could have caused damage to the marine ecosystem of the neighboring country.
From the Venezuelan state oil company, we reiterate that we have not received any report, in which our clients and / or subsidiaries report a possible breakdown or spill in the vicinity of the Brazilian coast, whose distance with our oil facilities is approximately 6,650 km, seaway.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ratifies its commitment to the preservation of life in Mother Earth, an historical objective enshrined in our Constitution and in the Law of the Homeland Plan 2019-2025.
We condemn these tendentious claims that seek to deepen the unilateral actions of aggression and blockade against our People”.
