Schémel: The opposition loses another year mired in internal disputes

“2016 is a lost year for the opposition. Incomprehensibly, the opposition continues making the same mistakes of 20 years ago, “said the analyst and president of the Hinterlaces polling company, Oscar Schémel.
“Instead of keep advancing, the opposition loses another year plunged in internal disputes, incomprehension of reality, repetitive rhetoric on “Maduro, go away now!” It got disconnected from the demands and expectations of the Venezuelans, it did not built new stories to position as an alternative, it has missed the great opportunity to keep advancing, ” emphasized Schémel this Sunday during the “José Vicente Hoy” (José Vicente today) program, broadcast by Televen.
“The opposition did not understood the character of their electoral triumph, the people did not voted for the opposition, they voted moved by the discontent, they punished an economic management.”
The President of Hinterlaces said that “the opposition believed that they already had control of the State, as if in Venezuela prevailed a parliamentary regime. They overestimated their triumph, their power, and underestimated the Chavismo ability to respond, and ignored that other powers also existed. ”
Schémel emphasized that the Venezuelan opposition, “from the moment they assumed the parliamentary majority, they tried to dualize power, to dispute the power of the State, and moves again towards a constitutional rupture.”
