Russia ratified support for the process of dialogue in Venezuela

Russia today reiterated its support for the process of dialogue between the Government and the opposition in Venezuela, in strict respect for the Constitution, and repudiated the imposition of any external control on sovereign states.
“We call on all states with influence to refrain from taking unilateral measures, in order to facilitate intra-Venezuelan negotiations, and thus find a solution through inclusive dialogue in strict accordance with the Constitution”, said the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, María Zajárova.
She stressed that Russia and other related countries repudiate the imposition of external control over sovereign states, and urge strict compliance with the norms and principles of international law regarding the situation in Venezuela.
During her appearance before the press, Zajárova criticized the opposition for their attempts to destabilize the country and thus delay the search for a negotiated solution to improve the humanitarian situation and return to the path of sustainable development.
She also linked these actions to attempts by the United States to develop a new strategy in the face of the failure of violent scenarios to overthrow the legitimate Government of Venezuela.
She also described the opening of a Venezuelan Affairs Unit at the US embassy in Colombia as illegitimate, and questioned the methods by which Washington plans to achieve their goal of “restoring democracy, constitutional order, security and welfare of the Venezuelan people”.
The Venezuelan government maintains its willingness to restart the dialogue with the opposition, after resuming contacts with Norway, assured President Nicolás Maduro.
Venezuela broke political and diplomatic relations with the United States on January 23, following the immediate support of the White House to opposition deputy Juan Guaidó, self-proclaimed as president in charge in an act of usurpation lacking any legal support, and qualified by the Bolivarian Executive as an attempt of a coup d’etat.
