Venezuela demands the United States at the UN to respect the embassy and not violate international law

The ambassador of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada, denounced on Wednesday the siege of the Venezuelan embassy in Washington and the violation of public international law.
At a press conference, the ambassador stressed that “the attitude of the United States is unusual. They refuse to comply with the Vienna Convention that requires the protection of diplomatic premises, even in situations of war”.
Moncada explained that Article 45 of the Convention establishes that when two nations break relations, their diplomatic facilities continue to have immunity. These can not be disposed of by the host State. In these cases, each nation can appoint a third State to work as a “protective power” in that area.
He said that the US government is already working to appoint a third State for his embassy in Caracas, but it impedes Venezuela from doing the same on American soil.
Venezuela has proposed Turkey to be a protector of Venezuelan embassies in the US, although it could be any other nation, because it is not yet decided.
