Right-wing political leaders flee from one embassy to another

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, reported that the material authors of the coup d’état, which began early on Tuesday, April 30, are fugitives from the Venezuelan justice system and are taking refuge in diplomatic offices.
“The political leaders of the extreme right wing, promoters of this coup plot, go from one embassy to another, fleeing after having subjected an entire country to anxiety, anguish, uncertainty and having subdued that punctual place on the highway from eastern Caracas (Altamira) to circumstances that could have been very serious”, said the President from the Simón Bolívar Hall in Miraflores palace.
The President’s statement comes after the Chilean Foreign Minister, Roberto Ampuero, who through a publication in his official account on the Twitter social network posted that the right-wing leader, Leopoldo López, in the company of his family, were in the Chilean embassy in Caracas, and subsequently relocated to the Spanish embassy:
“I want to update information: Lilian Tintori and Leopoldo López -of Spanish descent- moved to the Embassy of Spain. It is a personal decision, considering that our Embassy already had guests”, published Ampuero.
It is important to remember that López was serving his sentence under the benefit of house arrest since July 2017 for health reasons, after being sentenced for the crimes of public incitement, association to commit a crime, and to cause damage and fire during acts of violence unleashed during the violent demonstrations, better known as “guarimbas” (riots), in 2014.
