President Maduro: Today we are free from the Ministry of Colonies of the USA

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, celebrated the official departure of Venezuela from the Organization of American States (OAS), which he described as the United States’s Ministry of Colonies.
“We are free from the Ministry of Colonies of the United States, an organization interventionist and disrespectful of democratic principles and International Law. Our Bolivarian and Independent Homeland says farewell to the OAS”, the President wrote in a message on Twitter.
The Twitter message is accompanied by a video that evokes the position of Commander Hugo Chávez, when on a May 25 he questioned the position of the OAS in the face of US aggressions against Venezuela and Cuba:
“When has the OAS pronounced about all the aggressions that Cuba has suffered? When has the OAS pronounced on all the aggressions that Venezuela has suffered including the coup d’état on 2002, and everything that has happened here?”, says Commander Chávez in the audiovisual material.
At that time, the Commander denounced that the organization does not serve to independent peoples, it only serves to the empire and world capitalism.
On April 30, 2017, President Maduro announced the departure of Venezuela from the OAS. On June 5, 2018, Chancellor Jorge Arreaza expressed the decision of the Head of State to the secretary of the aforementioned body, Luis Almagro.
This Saturday the Venezuelans celebrated the decision of the authorities with a mobilization in the capital city. The tour began in the Morelos Square (in downtown Caracas) and culminated in the headquarters of the Chancellery.
