Venezuela abandoned the OAS by the will of the people

In front of a popular rally in the vicinity of the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic, Caracas, the Foreign Minister, Jorge Arreaza, celebrated on Saturday the official departure of Venezuela from the Organization of American States (OAS):
“From today the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela does not belong to the OAS. We are outside the OAS by the will of the people, having complied with everything established in the OAS charter”, he said at the rally broadcast by VTV.
The chancellor gave an acknowledgement to the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, for leaving the aforementioned organization, used by US politicians as a platform to execute a coup d’etat against Venezuela:
“We must acknowledge our constitutional president elected by the people, Nicolás Maduro, in this strategic battle of years against the continued coup d’état”, he said.
Likewise, Arreaza stressed that while the period established for officially leaving the OAS was being met, Venezuela complied with its obligations in the organization despite not agreeing with its management.
The Chancellor indicated that, in order to be a Republic, it is necessary to be outside the international forums controlled by Washington.
In this regard, he recalled the warnings of the Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, qualifying said institution as the US ministry for colonies. He also referred to the support given by the OAS to the military intervention of the United States against the Dominican Republic, which was justified with “humanitarian aid”.
“That is what they wanted to do here, but they will not come back, they will not pass, because here is a brave people, a militia, a people that will defend independence with their lives”, said the Venezuelan Chancellor.
Similarly, Arreaza evoked the work of Commander Chávez to create international spaces for debate and Latin American unity, in addition to seeking the departure of Venezuela from other instances in which the political forces of North America exert pressure, such as the International Convention of Human Rights, the International Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance, among others.
Consequently, he pointed out that Commander Chávez promoted the constitution of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur), the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
“Today we are more independent than yesterday, we are deepening our freedom, it is part of the battle of independence of Simón Bolívar that we give in the 21st century, which we must lead as a people”, he added.
Arreaza considered important to add more citizens to the independence struggle of Venezuela. Therefore, he mentioned the fighting that must still be fought in defense of the nation’s assets:
“We denounce in the United Nations, on Thursday, the blockade there is of the money of the Venezuelans to be able to pay the CDI, the schools, the universities, the CLAP, to be able to pay our social rights. That money is more than 5 billion euros”, he complained.
The diplomat demanded the US to abandon the hypocrisy and lift the blockade, thus allowing the continuity of the Bolivarian Revolution. He stressed that the US government only seeks to take the Venezuelan riches such as oil, minerals, among others.
In the meeting, the Chancellor rejected the US sanctions against him, after defending Venezuela in the United Nations (UN):
“With these sanctions they want to intimidate us, they believe that these sanctions scare us, but rather they give us more courage, more strength to liquidate them in the political battle”, he said.
At the closure, he stressed the duty of retaking international political spaces. “May them be prepared, because more victories will come. The first victory is that of the Bolivarian people when departing the OAS”.
