President Maduro commemorates centenary of assassination of Mexican leader Emiliano Zapata

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, wrote a message through his account on the social network Twitter to commemorate the centenary of the assassination of Mexican leader Emiliano Zapata.
Emiliano Zapata was born on August 8, 1879 in San Miguel Anenecuilco, Morelos, Mexico. He was the son of Cleofas Jertrudiz Salazar and Gabriel Zapata. His mother died when Emiliano was 16 years old and 11 months later his father died.
The peasant leader, an icon of the Mexican Revolution known as “El Caudillo del Sur” (The Southern Leader), was assassinated on April 10, 1919, at a ranch in Chinameca, in Morelos, by Colonel Jesús Guajardo.

“We commemorate with the Mexican people the centenary of the assassination of the “Caudillo del Sur”, Emiliano Zapata. Revolutionary spirit and irreducible moral. His struggle for the dignification of the victims of the oligarchy is our struggle. Honor and eternal glory!
