The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, congratulated the new councilor men and women elected this Sunday.
Through his Twitter account, the national leader urged councilors to take charge of the difficulties suffered by the Venezuelan people:
“I congratulate the councilors elected on the wonderful electoral journey of this # DEC09. I invite you to be at the forefront of the difficulties that our people suffer, to move towards the construction of the prosperous future of the Homeland. People’s Victory!”, he wrote.
Chavismo swept this Sunday in the elections of councilors to conquer the majority of the municipal chambers with 142 positions out of the 156 procured for list vote and 449 out of 467 in nominal vote, according to the first bulletin issued by the National Electoral Council.
