Historic meeting between Maduro and Xi Jinping raises “all-proof” relations

In a historic meeting in Beijing, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, announced the elevation of bilateral relations to the All-Proof and All-Time Strategic Partnership.

The meeting took place in the Great Palace of the People, regarding the official work visit of the Venezuelan head of state to the Asian nation.

President Xi Jinping offered a welcome ceremony in honor of the Venezuelan president, which was broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión. Both leaders thus reaffirmed their commitment to defend common interests and strengthen cooperation and solidarity.

China and Venezuela reiterated the ties of mutual trust and common work for common development. China always firmly supports Venezuela’s efforts to defend the country’s sovereignty, national dignity and social stability, and firmly supports Venezuela’s just cause of fighting against external interference, which was ratified at the meeting.

Relations between Venezuela and China date back to 1974 and it was from 1999, with the arrival to the Executive Power of Commander Hugo Chávez, that these alliances were cemented in a level of greater awareness with the promotion of new projects and methodology.

Between 2014 and 2018 the strategic alliance was developed in greater depth to carry out new projects. Starting in 2018 and until 2022, it was based on the stage of resistance against the sanctions imposed by the United States administration against the Venezuelan people.

Since September 2023 with the seventeenth Joint Commission, a new era begins, at a higher level. Venezuela and China are heading towards a new virtuous era of financial, economic, commercial, energy, industrial, mining, agriculture, infrastructure, communication and tourism relations.

As a consequence of these coercive, arbitrary and illegal measures, the country stopped receiving 99% of its War Economy resources, even amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. However, China increased its support for the Venezuelan people.
