Cabello responded to possible US sanctions on gold exports from Venezuela

The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, responded on Wednesday to the threats made by the United States Government to the country of sanctions against gold exports:

“Here in Venezuela, gold belongs to Venezuelans and we do whatever we want to benefit our people”, he said during his “Con el Mazo Dando” (Hitting with the Hammer) program.

Cabello denounced that this threat is part of the actions of US imperialism to suffocate the Venezuelan economy, to generate discontent in the population and thereby overthrow the Bolivarian Government.

“Why do we have to give an account to the United States of our Gold, of our riches? They know why they do it, because they think they own the riches of the world”, he said, while recalling the refusal of the North American nation to deliver the gold that Germany kept in the Federal Reserve and requested that it be returned to it in 2012.

“Germany is still waiting for the United States to return the gold that belongs to them,” he said.
