China rejects sanctions against Venezuela

“China always follows the principle of not intervening in the internal affairs of other countries and we advocate that there be equality and respect between nations, without interfering in internal issues”, was warned in a statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The Chinese Government said that the vote for the National Constituent Assembly last Sunday was held “in a stable manner in general” and asked other countries not to intervene in internal affairs of the Latin American country.

In the statement, the Chinese Ministry expressed the wish that the Government and the opposition “can have a peaceful dialogue under the law and resolve issues related to the organization in order to maintain the country’s stability and the development of the economy and society”, as refers the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN).

“China is confident that the Venezuelan Government and its people will be able to resolve their internal affairs, since achieving a stable and developed country is in the interests of all parties,” the diplomatic note concludes.

Since the last decade, China has been one of the most important trading partners of Venezuela, which has become the main destination for Chinese investments in Latin America.
