More than one billion dollars from Venezuela are being retained by Euroclear

“We need that money to pay for foodstuffs, medicines, etc., since no one wants to negotiate with Venezuela for fear of sanctions”, as denounces the Chancellor of the South American nation, Jorge Arreaza.

This Tuesday during a press conference as part of the 73rd General Assembly of the United Nations Organization (UN), the Venezuelan Foreign Minister said: “The label of a humanitarian crisis is the excuse for an intervention in Venezuela, how is it achieved? With the blockade … I’ll hang you and now I’ll save you … see the case of Dominican Republic in 1965”.

It should be noted that Euroclear is one of the largest clearing and settlement systems for financial securities in the world, headquartered in Belgium.

Arreaza said he has tried to communicate with the Colombian Chancellor, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, in order to establish a meeting on issues involving both nations: “They do not want to talk because they know we have the truth”, he said.

He also referred he expects Holmes to accede to such requests, “for him to ask permission” to the vice President of the United States, Mike Pence.
