The Constituent Assembly must be deeply feminist

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said Saturday that he hopes that the new National Constituent Assembly (ANC) will be a citizen, popular, working, cultural, economic, communist and also deeply feminist, for peace and union in the country.

«I am very grateful for the support I am receiving from Venezuelan women for the National Constituent Assembly, and I am grateful for the support of the youth and of the entire people. (…) A Constituent of peace, a constituent for the union, a feminist, popular constituent», said the national President during a meeting with the mothers of the Homeland, held in the Bicentennial Square of Miraflores Palace, in Caracas.

The Head of State called on the popular leaders to prepare themselves to be elected as constituents in the next direct, secret and universal elections that will be held in the country and for this he stated that he aspires to soon deliver the presidential and constitutional decree to the Electoral Power with the Bases committees so that the people choose the constituent deputies.

«I want to see at least half of the constituent to be women of our beloved Venezuela, at least half,» he said.

He emphasized that in the Community Councils and the Local Committees of Supply and Production (Clap) 80% of its leaders are women.
