“We are acting diplomatically and from a legal standpoint, demanding the rights of our fellow citizens who are kidnapped,” stated Diosdado Cabello, Minister of People’s Power for Internal Affairs, Justice, and Peace, while emphasizing that the Bolivarian Government is still awaiting a call confirming the return of 238 Venezuelans kidnapped at the so-called Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) in El Salvador:
“If a person commits crimes in any given country, then that nation has the right to prosecute them according to its laws. However, this leads to the creation of new concentration camps reminiscent of fascism at its worst. And that is happening today in El Salvador,” said Cabello during a press conference following the return of 199 Venezuelan migrants from the United States.
He emphasized that the 238 Venezuelans kidnapped in El Salvador have no crimes committed in the Central American nation, and therefore should not be deprived of their liberty: «(Nayib Bukele) is violating all their rights,» he added.
He emphasized that the government of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, is willing to search for Venezuelan migrants wherever they may be in the world: «The [far-right] coyotes(*) are comfortable, and those who are facing a difficult time today are those who fell into their clutches,» he stated.
Cabello warned that the government of Nayib Bukele has not yet commented on the kidnapping of the more than 200 Venezuelans detained in the CECOT prison: «They don’t speak; they’re drunk on power. What is certain is that in El Salvador, the human rights of all citizens are being violated,» he stated.
