55% of the population approves economic measures of the National Executive

Journalist José Vicente Rangel, through his “José Vicente Hoy” (José Vicente Today) program broadcast by the Televen communication company, reported on Sunday, September 2 that through a survey conducted by the Hinterlaces company, a 55% of the Venezuelan population is in agreement with the new economic measures announced by President Nicolás Maduro.

The journalist stressed that this population believes it is the right direction to overcome economic problems and also trust that shortages and hyperinflation can be resolved.

The poll, which was made in 1,200 homes from August 21 to August 30, 2018, reflected that 71% of Venezuelans agree that the state sets the prices of products.

On the other hand, 69% of the population turned out to be part of the minimum wage increase, which was BsS 50 (BsF 5 million) and reached BsS 1,800 (BsF 180 million).

Meanwhile, 68% of Venezuelans are on the side of the increase in the price of gasoline and 57% agree with the increase in public transport rates, including the Caracas Metro system.

Rangel said that a 56% of respondents have a preference for the increase of public services rates, such as water, electricity and telephony.

For its part, the moderator of the “José Vicente Hoy” program, said that the analysis of the recent measures announced by President Maduro has achieved a high support to the government, which demonstrates the will to manage the crisis and accentuates positive expectations in a context of demands for answers and solutions.

“Today the president is the only leader to get us out of the crisis (…), most agree to share and make important adjustments to the economy such as the increase in the price of gasoline and public services”, he concluded.
