TSJ declares constitutionality of decree of extension of the State of Exception and Economic Emergency

The Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) declared this Monday, the constitutionality of Decree No. 4,242 of July 2, 2020, published in the Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela No. 6,551 Extraordinary, of the same date, whereby the extension of Decree No. 4,194 dated May 4, 2020 is decreed, declaring the State of Exception and Economic Emergency throughout the national territory.

In this sense,sentence N ° 0080-2020, with a presentation by magistrate Juan José Mendoza Jover, indicates that it is null, inexistent and ineffective any act that tries to disapprove the Decree of State of Exception and Economic Emergency.

Likewise, the TSJ Chamber reiterates that the judgments of the Constitutional Chamber have erga omnes character and effects, including for all the organs of the National Public Power; Likewise, it orders the ruling to be published in the Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in the Judicial Gazette and on the website of the Supreme Court of Justice, as reported the TSJ press release.
