New health law draft will be presented to the ANC

The draft of a new law on health will be presented to the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), whose proposal will emerge from the work boards of the First National Revolutionary Congress on Health that began on Thursday and will run until Friday, August 24.

The information was made public by the Minister of People’s Power for Health, Carlos Alvarado, who indicated that the regulations will be aimed at strengthening the national health system, as well as establishing timely guidelines related to the provision of health services:

“The last health law is from 1998, we, in Revolution, we must build a revolutionary health law that integrates all the services and providers of public health services”, he said in a broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

The construction of the new legal instrument, as explained Alvarado, will be nurtured with the contributions by spokespersons of the health sector, who participate in the discussion of issues related to the consolidation of the national public health system, the construction of a national policy of medicines and supplies and the people’s participation in health matters.

345 proposals in debate:

Regarding the development of the First National Revolutionary Health Congress, which takes place in the Military Circle, in Caracas, 600 delegates debate 345 proposals related to the improvement of the public health system:

“The proposals are aimed at establishing the guidelines of the new stage of the national health system policy”, he said.

The general directors of the Ministry for Health, the Venezuelan Institute of Social Security (IVSS), the Social Assistance and Welfare Institute for Personnel of the Ministry for Education (IPASME), the Cuban Medical Mission, trade unions and professional health, military health and the People’s power.
