Products from the industrial, food and pharmaceutical sectors are exempt from import tax

This Wednesday was published in the Official Gazette the exemption of payment of import taxes and customs duties to different capital goods, raw materials, rotables and consumables, until December 31, 2019.

The announcement comes in conjunction with the agreement between the Ministries for Industries and National Production, Economy and Finance, for Productive Agriculture and Land, for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Food, Health, Oil and Foreign Trade and International Investment.

According to Official Gazette No. 6,393, published on Tuesday, these payments will be exempted from final imports of processed products from the textile sectors; footwear; foods; lubricants and their derivatives; products for personal hygiene and for the hygiene and cleaning of the home, and medicines, made by the organs and entities of the National Public Administration, as well as those made with own resources by natural or legal persons, not produced in the country or with insufficient production, according to the law.

In this way, the National Executive guarantees the adequate conditions for the production of strategic items, the supply of essential goods and mass consumption, and essential products for national production, through special measures to guarantee access for the people .
