156 new positive coronavirus cases and one death confirmed in Venezuela

The Minister for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, confirmed this Tuesday 156 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, which brings the total number of infected by the outbreak in the country to 1,818.

From Miraflores Palace, Minister Jorge Rodríguez detailed that six cases correspond to community transmission, and 150 are imported cases.

Of the total number of imported cases, Rodríguez explained that 136 correspond to compatriots coming from from Colombia, and a new one who had contact with an international traveler. He also confirmed a new death from the outbreak, which brings the number of fatalities from the virus to 18.

In this regard, he explained that concluding the meeting of the presidential commission against Covid 19, “it being a scourge that attacks the lives of human beings, we congratulate all the people of Venezuela, as well as the economy and banking sectors, for strictly complying with time protocols, the use of face masks and hygiene regulations, such as hand washing and the use of gel with alcohol”, stressed Rodríguez in his speech.

He stressed in turn that “the importance of the necessary distance or social distance between people, as the main keys to success in the phase of flexibilization of quarantine under the 5 x 10 modality, to move to a later phase of a greater flexibility”, he sentenced.

He added that up to date there are 334 recovered patients, 1,467 active cases of which 977 are being treated in sentinel hospitals, 475 in Integral Diagnostic Centers, 15 in private clinics and 18 deceased. The fatality rate reaches less than 1% of those infected, making it one of the lowest in the world.
