Venezuela warns the United States did not tolerated scrutiny of the UN Human Rights Council

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela rejected the abrupt withdrawal of the United States (US) from the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN), announced on Tuesday.

“Venezuela denounces to the international community the contempt of the US regime towards multilateralism and its democratic institutions, after abruptly withdrawing from the United Nations Human Rights Council, by failing in its attempts to control it”.

This was written by the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, in a statement he made public on his account on the Twitter social network.

Following, the full statement:

“The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounces to the international community the contempt expressed by the regime of the United States of America towards multilateralism and its institutions, by abruptly withdrawing from the Human Rights Council of the United Nations.

The Government that generates wars, death and destruction for natural resources and geopolitical domination, which maintains visible and clandestine torture centers, that blocks countries to suffer and distort the will of their Peoples, which seeks to corral the Palestinian people, who expel and mistreat Millions of immigrants, could not stand the scrutiny of an international democratic body, which did not conform to its claims of control and subordination.

With this file, Washington’s membership in the Human Rights Council was already paradoxical. As a demonstration of this, its retirement takes place precisely at times when they are unable to show a halo of humanity with the more than 2,000 children who have been separated from their parents and locked in cages like wild animals for the mere fact of being immigrants on the southern border. The world did not witness such ruthless and inhumane xenophobic acts since World War II.

Venezuela extends its solidarity and fraternal embrace to all children and their families who today suffer the persecution of a criminal regime that aims to take humanity to stages that were thought to have been overcome. The international community must preserve today more than ever multilateralism in the defense of international legality, including human rights. The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela highlights as a positive consequence that the Human Rights Council of the UN can now act without the disturbances, attempts of extortion and direct pressure from the main violator of human rights in the humanity”.
