Nine states of the country register damages due to heavy rainfalls

The National Director of Civil Protection, Brigadier General Randy Rodriguez, reported that so far the states of Apure, Barinas, Bolivar, Lara, Mérida, Portuguesa, Táchira, Trujillo and Zulia, have affectations in 21 municipalities, as a result of the heavy rainfalls.

From the VEN-911 service in La California, the Brigadier General indicated that 94 homes are flooded, also have been registered seven landslides and 11 road sections have been affected.

“We are monitoring more than 15 rivers and five streams that are at the yellow alert level; It is worth highlighting the action that the National Risk System develops with the activation of Early Alerts”, said Rodríguez.

He reported that in the upcoming 36 hours will present a high-altitude trough, because of the Intertropical Convergence Zone that is on the country and comes to complement the Tropical Wave 8 causing heavy rainfall in the national territory.

“It is expected that there will be rainfalls in particular in the southern, western areas and in the morning hours of Tuesday will be registered in the north central coastal region”, said the head of Civil Protection.

He pointed out that Civil Protection is deployed with permanent and constant monitoring: “That is why we urge the Venezuelan people to take preventive measures and call 0800-PCivil-1 (0800-7248451) and VEN-911, so we can coordinate and address the emergencies that they could present themselves and give an immediate response to the population”, said Rodríguez.
