The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, requested the support of all the Venezuelan people on the procedural benefits measures to people who promoted political violence during the last years in the country.
«I have taken a set of measures that I think are going in a just direction. I ask for the understanding and support of the whole country to the measures of dialogue, pacification, reconciliation, to the measures of benefit and freedom towards the political actors involved in violence (…) all this hatred was directed towards me, and I forgive them», he said.
During the meeting with the national leadership of PSUV, he called on the beneficiaries to join the path of democracy and peace, while denouncing the campaign made by international media seeking to distort the reality of actions promoted by the national reconciliation: «They are politicians who went to violence to overthrow the Government and they had to pay justice, and Maduro tells them we are going to peace, to reunification, to reunion», he added.
The Head of State said that in Venezuela there is no political persecution, remembering that the opposition has governors, mayors, deputies, in addition to the control of 80% of the media and social networks.
Maduro reiterated his thanks to the work of the National Constituent Assembly for achieving peace and political stability in the country.
