Bolivarian Government rejects EU restrictive measures against Venezuelan officials

The Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs issued on Monday a statement rejecting the measures imposed by the European Union against Venezuelan citizens through the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, Belgium.

Following, the statement:

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela strongly rejects the restrictive measures imposed against seven high officials of our country in an illegal and unilateral manner by the European Union, adopted today by the Foreign Affairs Council in the city of Brussels. These unworthy actions violate the fundamental precepts of the Charter of the United Nations and seek to exert a gross interference in the internal affairs of our country.

Today the European Union offers irrefutable evidence of its remarkable subordination to the supremacist and racist Government of Donald Trump. These decisions denote an erratic and interventionist policy towards our country, which inevitably recalls old and overcome colonialist maneuvers of ancient empires, expelled from our Americas 200 years ago, by the courage and libertarian will of our peoples

This obsessive behavior towards Venezuela, drag the European Union to violate its own founding principles, becoming an instrument at the service of the imperialist pretensions of the US Government, transgressing the most elementary rules of International Law and threatening the stability of our country.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela demands from the European Union respect for its sovereignty, for its legitimately constituted institutions, and demands the immediate cessation of hostile policies against our Homeland. Venezuela reserves the necessary actions to defend the dignity of our people against imperial aggressions, and to protect our democracy, sovereignty and sacred independence.
