Opposition governors subordinate to the ANC

On Monday afternoon, the governors-elect in the states of Táchira, Nueva Esparta, Anzoátegui and Mérida, all of them militants of the Acción Democrática (Democratic Action) right wing party, were subordinated to the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), as said the Chairwoman of the highest instance of the Plenipotentiary Power, Delcy Rodríguez.

She stated that the Governors signed a Constituent act, based on the decree that contemplates the functioning in harmony of the Constituent power with the Constituted power. From this moment on, the subordinate governors-elect can attend their corresponding instances to take oath of their positions.

“It has been a very important act, with very clear messages for the country on the need for democratic coexistence, for peaceful coexistence, for respect for the will of the people who elected our Governors”, said Rodríguez.

She regretted that the Governor-elect for Zulia state, Juan Pablo Guanipa, did not attend the ceremony, and added that his actions will have consequences.

The Governors who took oath before the ANC were: Laidy Gómez (Táchira), Alfredo Diaz (Nueva Esparta), Alfredo Barreto Cira (Anzoátegui) and Ramón Guevara (Mérida).

The President of the Originary Power said that the sworn governors were sent a message of respect for the Constitution and the Laws of the Republic, seeking to defend the peace, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic.
