At the La Pica Penitentiary Center located in the city of Maturín, Monagas state, an intervention process was carried out, in which more than 1,490 prisoners were evacuated, this as part of Operation Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro led by the sectoral vice president for Citizen Security and Peace, A/J Remigio Ceballos.
The Admiral in Chief reported that after applying the corresponding actions, the surrender of a group of hostile strongholds was achieved, which were placed under the command of the Ministry of People’s Power for Penitentiary Service: “We have put an end to the prison mafia on the precise instructions of our president Nicolás Maduro,” he said.
Ceballos highlighted, in this sense, that through the aforementioned operation, the Bolivarian Government together with the State security forces will advance in strengthening the penitentiary system, in order to guarantee the protection of the Venezuelan people.
It should be noted that Operation Cacique Guaicaipuro is made up of officials and troops from the Bolivarian National Police Corps (CPNB); the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc); the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin); the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Digecim) of the Ministry of People’s Power for Defense; and the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB).
