Demonstrations convened by the opposition are marked by violence

Journalist José Vicente Rangel, said that the demonstrations being called daily by the opposition are marked by violent acts.

During the editorial of the “José Vicente Hoy” (José Vicente Today) program, broadcast by Televen, Rangel questioned the argument used by the Venezuelan opposition, of that the country does not guarantee the right to demonstrate, that it is prosecuted and that they are unreasonably repressed by the forces of public order.

“Is there any other country in the world where the Government allows to make a violent public demonstration every day? Are the demonstrations promoted by the MUD peaceful?” questioned the journalist.

He said these demonstrations generally begin in a peaceful manner but, as they continue their development, they transform and culminate with violent actions.

He argued that the calls made by the MUD are not peaceful when there are people who get masked, who use weapons – such as Molotov fire bombs, mortars and even firearms -, when they loot, arson, attack passers-by, attack public forces, attack people for being identified as militants or sympathizers of Chavismo, and reaffirmed that these are indicators of a violent character.
