CEV still refuses to participate in debate on the Constituent Assembly

On Wednesday, the member of the Constitutional Presidential Commission, Hermann Escarrá, reiterated that the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference (CEV) still denies to participate in the dialogue on the National Constituent Assembly convened by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

«The issue of the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference remains pending. There was an unreasonable phrase from the Bishop of Barquisimeto who said that the Pope lives in Rome and we live here, a very childish attitude», said Escarrá during his participation in the «Con Amorin» (With Amorin)  program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

«It is not a matter of seeking to convince, the objective is to explain in detail the National Constituent Assembly», he said.

He said that in terms of dialogue, «The reaction has been mostly positive in the sense of peace, support for the Constituent Assembly and the process of recomposition of the country.»

He took the chance to deny that the election of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) is one of a third degree and made it clear that it will be one of a universal, direct, and secret nature.
