The first Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Psuv), Diosdado Cabello, referred to the episode occurred on Wednesday May 3, when journalist Leopoldo Castillo reported the false News of the alleged death of Leopoldo López.
He condemned Castillo’s lack of ethics, who justified the false news by arguing that a source told him that Lopez had been transferred to the Military Hospital without vital signs.
“Imagine what would have happened here if that ball was still rolling. How many dead would we have collected in the afternoon because of you, Leopoldo Castillo?” Asked Cabello during the program “Con el Mazo Dando” (Hitting with the Hammer), broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión.
He said that the action of disclosing the false information was part of a plan. He explained how immediately after Castillo issued the message, US Senator Marco Rubio replied the lie, and the wife of Leopoldo Lopez appeared in the Military Hospital dressed in black.
Cabello reported that this week a group of people were moved from the Ramo Verde Prison, López’s place of detention.
“What was mounted was something bigger, a plot between the People of the Voluntad Popular party, some officers who are detained, for different reasons … they had a plot ready for last Wednesday,” he said.
He explained that the plot was disarticulated when in the program “Con el Mazo Dando”, the same day the fake news circulated, was shown a video with a proof of Life by Leopoldo López himself, confirming that he was in good health.
He criticized that has not been demanded anything from Leopoldo Castillo for having divulged the lie.
“What were you really waiting for?” “Mrs. Tintori, what were you waiting for on that day, already dressed in black?” “Why don’t you tell the country what you were waiting for, why don’t you honestly speak to the country?” .
Regarding the case of Lopez, Cabello explained that there is already a firm sentence in his case, and so he does not need a lawyer. He assured that the visit of the lawyers of Lopez, every two or three days, have conspirative purposes.
