“The pettiness and selfishness of the oligarchy of the 19th century did not counted with the strength of the rebellious love of the people of Simon Bolivar and the courage of the humble ones, led by General Ezequiel Zamora, who 200 years later carries the supreme and eternal appointments as General Of the Sovereign People and Brave Citizen. ”
The statement was made this Wednesday by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, after receiving the banner of the Sovereign People’s General, Ezequiel Zamora, from the hands of first lieutenant woman Marlene Jaspe, in the framework of the commemorative acts Of the 200 years of the birth of the Venezuelan Hero.
The Head of State stressed that after the betrayal of sectors that took power after the Independence, the Venezuelan people found in Ezequiel Zamora a great redemptive leader to take up the struggles for the rights of the popular classes.
The revolutionary hero was the precursor of an agrarian reform that defended the rights of the peasants. In addition to participating in the Federal War, the General of the People led to the peasant insurrection, which allowed the victory of the Battle of Santa Ines.
The act is also attended by the Vice President of the Republic, Tareck El Aissami; the Ombudsman, Tarek William Saab; the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Gladys Gutiérrez Alvarado; the General Comptroller of the Republic, Manuel Galindo; the Minister of Defense, General in Chief Vladimir Padrino López; and other representatives of ministerial portfolios of the country.
The banner presented today to the President of the Republic will be deployed throughout the entire 2017 in the acts of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces.
