Exxon Mobil will start oil drilling in Essequibo


The US transnational Exxon Mobil plans to start the drilling and exploitation in the Liza-1 well, the first in the Stabroek block, located about 120 miles off the coast of Guyana, in areas under claim by Venezuela.
The denounce was presented by journalist José Vicente Rangel, during the “José Vicente Hoy” (José Vicente Today) program, broadcast by the private TV station Televen.
This oil company, through its local subsidiary Esso Exploration and Production Guyana, has started the seismic exploration works on the adjacent Canje block, in areas under claim, with the approval of the Government of David Granger.
