More than 318,000 people have participated in consultations for reengineering of the Government

A total of 318,906 people have participated, to date, in the various citizen consultation processes launched by the Presidential Commission for the Restructuring and Reengineering of the Government. The balance was offered this Wenesday by the commission’s head, Héctor Rodríguez, during a sectoral meeting with representatives of women’s movements.

Within the framework of this event, which was held at the Ministry for Women and Gender Equality, Rodríguez broke down the participation figures: 45,884 people have responded to the survey hosted on the www.reingenieria.gob.ve website, while 4,594 citizens have submitted direct proposals through the same channel. Additionally, 268,428 Venezuelans have participated in debates at community and circuits assemblies.

The person in charge of the process extended an open invitation to all political and social sectors, as well as the general public, to continue adding their voices: «I invite you to join the debate on what model of government we want as a society, what aspects need to be refined or changed. But not from an individual perspective, rather thinking about the collective and the country as a whole,» he emphasized.

Rodríguez stressed that the criteria for building an «efficient, transparent, and participatory» administration must be the result of a broad consensus, «tailored to the concrete needs of the people, with a vision of advance that is gradual and realistic.» In that regard, he clarified that the initiative does not imply an integral redesign of the State, but specifically of the central government, and reiterated that it does not contemplate the elimination of social protection programs or the dismissal of public employees. «What we will review indeed is whether all the resources and tools we count with are being used in an optimal manner, and whether each procedure we carry out remains being essential,» he pointed out.

In this Tuesday’s journey participated female deputies, grassroots leaders, workers, and other representatives of the women’s movement, who contributed with their perspectives to the government transformation process.
