The Minister of People’s Power for Defense, General-in-Chief Gustavo González López, manifested this Tuesday the support of the High Military Command for the strategic agreement signed between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the United States (U.S.) for energy development in oil fields:
«We support, approve, and agree with all the terms of the recent strategic agreement that the country has reached with the United States regarding energy development in the oil fields,» declared the head of the Defense Ministry after holding a meeting at Miraflores Palace with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), Delcy Rodríguez.
Minister González López also explained that the implementation of the agreement will boost the inflow of foreign capital into the national productive sector: «We observe that with this agreement we will see the income of significant international investment, which will translate into more jobs and increased production,» he stated.
Likewise, he emphasized the economic nature of the bilateral agreement reached between the two nations: «It’s about transforming a political difference into an economic cooperation agreement. It’s simply a decision to pursue peace, it’s not a subordination,» he added.
During the meeting, military authorities also conducted an operational review of unit readiness, personnel well-being, energy conservation plans, and monitoring of the country’s weather forecast.
