The head of the General Staff for the Creation of Temporary Camps and Housing, Jorge Rodríguez, reported that the National Government is advancing in the construction of 3,000 temporary housings in the Ciudad Caribia urbanism to relocate families affected by the earthquakes of last June 24 and thus free up the 67 schools currently serving as camps, in preparation for the start of the new school year.
Rodríguez explained that these spaces will be single-family homes and will allow to guarantee privacy and better conditions of permanency for the families while work is underway on the construction of new definitive housing.
“The central objective of the temporary relocation plan is to free up the total of 67 schools that are currently housing citizens in the various camps,” he stated.
Likewise, he detailed that, in addition to temporary shelters, the plan includes acquiring properties on the secondary market, completing pending projects of the Great Mission Housing Venezuela, and the construction of new housing developments.
In this sense, he highlighted that are being constructed 4,000 homes, including 3,000 in Catia La Mar, La Guaira state, as part of the efforts geared to guarantee permanent housing solutions for those affected families.
Finally, Rodríguez emphasized that this set of measures will allow to advance in the recovery of educational spaces and to provide integral support to those families affected by the seismic emergency.
