The President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, announced that oil production in the state of Zulia ascended to 370,000 barrels per day, a substantial increase from the 70,000 barrels per day previously recorded. She made this announcement during the closing ceremony of the 2nd Energy, Oil, and Gas Conference (Cepeg 2026), where she projected that production would reach 400,000 barrels per day by the end of this year.
The Dignitary highlighted that this operational upturn is driven by key milestones, such as a production record at the Petro Zamora field. Likewise, she stated that the revenue generated by this growth will directly translate into benefits for the population, with a focus on improving public services, wages, healthcare, and food access for Venezuelan families.
Within the framework of the regional energy development, the Head of State estimated that by 2027, the state of Zulia will consolidate as a producer and exporter of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). This advance will help secure the supply of natural gas for residential, commercial, and industrial consumption within the country, while also paving the way for exports to the international market.
Regarding the electrical system, Rodríguez explained that the agreements reached include plans for autonomous power generation at oil fields. This measure is intended to ensure the continued operation of the hydrocarbon industry without placing an additional burden on the state’s electrical grid, thereby safeguarding the energy supply for the population of Zulia state.
Regarding international partnerships, she highlighted the impact of a binational agreement with the United States, which contemplates the activation of 250 drilling rigs and the signing of 17 oil fields. Jointly with other international agreements, the country has a total of 61 signed accords and 44 under negotiation, with a projected investment of nearly 76 billion dollars over the next five years.
The national dignitary also emphasized the merits of the new Hydrocarbons Law, highlighting its fiscal flexibility, legal certainty, and compliance with Article 19, which mandates prioritizing national capital, goods, and services. This revitalization is expected to generate more than 324,000 jobs over ten years and stimulate sectors such as transportation, metalworking, and commerce.
