Venezuela leads projections of economic growth in Latin America for 2026 and 2027

Venezuela leads economic growth projections in South America for 2026 and 2027, with an estimated expansion of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 6.5% for both years, according to estimates from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) released in August 2026. The announcement was made by President Delcy Rodríguez during her participation in the 82nd Annual Assembly of Fedecámaras.

The country accumulates 22 consecutive quarters of economic growth, while preliminary figures for the third quarter of 2026 show an increase exceeding 6.5%.

Among the sectors with the highest year-on-year growth are highlighted financial activities (33.4%), mining and quarrying (29.9%), and construction (11.8%). Oil sector activity registered a 5.8% increase.

Additionally, accumulated real consumption between January and September rose by 21.3% compared to the same period in 2025, while tax revenue from the non-oil sector grew by 22.6%.
