A facility designed to provide health, nutrition, recreation, and self-governance services to 400 older adults from the La Vega parish was inaugurated this Thursday by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez.
The social project was launched with the participation of the Mayor of Libertador Municipality, Carmen Meléndez, and the Minister of People’s Power for Elder Adults and President of the National Institute of Social Services (INASS)—Magally Viña.
The new center features a medical consultation room equipped with a primary care kit (blood pressure monitor, glucometer, nebulizer, and oximeter) and ENT equipment to monitor the seniors’ health. Likewise, it houses a pharmacy stocked with medications, adult diapers, wheelchairs, and crutches, alongside personal care areas offering barber, hairdressing, and manicure services.
Care and Leisure for the Golden Years:
In matters of nutrition and coexistence, the facilities include an industrial kitchen and a dining hall equipped to provide continuous service of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a lounge area featuring air conditioning, a television, and a library.
To encourage productivity and leisure, the complex includes a textile workshop with four sewing machines, a *bolas criollas* court, tables for traditional games (dominoes, Ludo, and chess), and a Self-Governance Room for community planning.
The launching of this space is part of the rollout of the «Gran Misión Abuelos y Abuelos de la Patria”(Grand Mission Grandfathers and Grandmothers of the Homeland), which has registered 1,605,698 older adults nationwide, along with 101,088 Grandparents’ Circles, 374 meeting spaces,» and 13 Grandparents’ Centers active.
In this way, the National Executive upholds its commitment to ensuring the well-being, happiness, and comprehensive care of the population’s most vulnerable sectors.
