CIIP and UNDP sign alliance to attract investments that boost the sustainable development of Venezuela

The International Center for Productive Investment (CIIP) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed an Understanding Memorandum to strengthen the national ecosystem for investment promotion and facilitation. The goal is to attract capital that drives productive diversification and the country’s sustainable development. The agreement was signed by Alejandro Puglia, President of the CIIP, and Luis Francisco Thais Santa Cruz, UNDP Resident Representative in Venezuela.

The Memorandum establishes that the CIIP will define the strategic priorities, agendas, and work plans for the cooperation, in alignment with national economic and social development priorities. The UNDP will act as a technical partner, focusing on knowledge transfer and the strengthening of institutional capacities so that results are sustainable.

Through this alliance, the CIIP and the UNDP will drive joint actions aimed at knowledge exchange, institutional strengthening, the promotion of international best practices, and the identification of opportunities to improve the investment climate and the country’s sustainable economic growth.

Both institutions will foster spaces for dialogue, coordination, and collaboration among public institutions, the private sector, the academia, the financial system, and development partners, promoting the identification of opportunities, knowledge sharing, and the construction of innovative solutions that contribute to inclusive economic growth, economic diversification, and the strengthening of strategic sectors for Venezuela’s sustainable development.

«This agreement combines the UNDP’s technical expertise with the CIIP’s work. We will work closely and in a coordinated manner on institutional governance and compliance to foster investment and the country’s development,» stated Puglia.

«Investment follows trust, and trust is built through quality information, well-structured projects, and institutions capable of supporting them. On this we will work along with the CIIP, under its leadership, contributing with what UNDP has learned iin more than 170 countries. Our goal is to ensure that capabilities are established here and that every investment leaves in Venezuela something more than just capital: jobs, added value, and opportunities in the territories,» stated Thais Santa Cruz.

Technical teams from both institutions will develop a work plan to outline specific actions. On the UNDP side, this cooperation will be coordinated through its Finance for Development Programme.
