During her visit to Portuguesa state, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, led this Tuesday an assembly with over 9,000 local coffee producers at the «El Cafetal» Social Production Enterprise (EPS) facilities, located in the Ospino municipality.
During the journey, the Head of State was accompanied by the heads of the ministries for Productive Agriculture and Lands (Vladimir Padrino López), Food (Carlos Leal Tellerías), Communes and Social Movements and Urban Agriculture (Ángel Prado), as well as the regional governor, Antonio Primitivo Cedeño.
In this plains region, agricultural workers and stakeholders of the sector raised the formulation of proposals and the presentation of an assessment of the Communal Coffee Plan, aiming to optimize state guidelines in this area.
The goal of this action is to diversify the economy and boost the non-oil export sector by strengthening this export item.
Portuguesa is characterized by its historic contribution to the livestock, grain, and dairy sectors. The Ospino municipality stands out particularly for its coffee and grain yields that, together with states like Lara, supply a significant portion of both domestic and international markets.
