In a moving ceremony to hand over more than 400 rehabilitated homes in the capital city, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, celebrated the return of families to their homes and the restoration of the community fabric.
During her address to the community members present, she stated that “this is a joint effort, in national unity. This isn’t about politics, about parties; it’s about standing with the people, with its pain, its needs, their aspirations, their dreams.”
The President also highlighted the social impact of the investment and the priority given to housing rehabilitation: “That is the greatest happiness that we can have. When you return to your homes, when we deliver a home to someone who was living in a camp, that is our happiness,” she manifested with commitment.
Reconstruction after the earthquake:
The Head of State acknowledged the suffering caused by the earthquakes and emphasized the National Government’s efforts to assist those most in need:
«I know how painful it has been for our people what we have endured and suffered with the double earthquake of June 24th.» Within that context, Rodríguez explained that «we are building in record time so that our brothers and sisters who are in the camps can benefit very soon and have a home again with their children, parents, and grandparents, and so we can embrace as family.»
The celerity of the works aims to restore normalcy to the communities that remain in temporary camps. For the President, public policy is focused on housing rehabilitation and financing as a central pillar of social protection.
