The President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, announced that, following the devastating double earthquake that struck the country, the nation initially accessed US$346 million of its own resources on the International Monetary Fund (IMF). These funds will be allocated entirely to the recovery and reconstruction process after the tragedy.
Rodríguez detailed that these resources will allow to support those affected families in matters of housing, infrastructure, and essential public services, among other priority requirements:
«I thank the IMF Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva, for her support and commitment, as well as all the institutions that made this important step possible,» highlighted the high-rank official.
Finally, she added that they will continue working tirelessly to protect the people and thus firmly advance with the country’s recovery.
