President in Charge evaluates cooperation agenda with authorities from Portugal after seismic contingency

The President in Charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, held a fraternal and important work meeting with the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, Emídio Ferreira dos Santos Sousa, with the aim of discussing the agenda for technical assistance and bilateral cooperation following the earthquakes registered last June 24.

The meeting formalizes the gratitude to the Government of Portugal, to its Prime Minister and its President, for the solidarity shown to the nation, maintaining the ongoing communication that the Venezuelan president has held with Portuguese authorities since the beginning of the emergency.

In the session also participated the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, and the Vice Minister for Europe and North America, Oliver Blanco, along with the Portuguese Ambassador, Manuel Frederico Pinheiro da Silva, Raquel Bastos, and Nuno Abreu e Lima.

The delegations are coordinating the continuation of recovery efforts in the affected areas, with special attention to the Portuguese-Venezuelan communities, assessing the deployment of the contingent of 64 specialists in rescue and medical care from the Armed Forces and the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority of Portugal, in addition to the distribution of humanitarian aid and ambulances donated by the Portuguese Red Cross.
