“We continue working tirelessly to advance the reconstruction and recovery of the affected zones, with the commitment to restore infrastructure and guarantee essential services for our people,” Thus was manifested by the President in Charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, after reviewing the inspection carried out at Maiquetía International Airport in La Guaira.

On her channel on Telegram, the Head of State in Charge reported that she instructed the immediate activation of an alternative plan to resume commercial flights as soon as possible on the airport’s parallel runway.

She indicated that the airport has an alternate runway in order to continue receiving all the aid arriving in Venezuela. Meanwhile, international partnerships are being coordinated for the recovery of the affected infrastructure.

Likewise, she detailed that the authorities are working to guarantee that the spaces of the airport terminal are in optimal conditions and thus repair the damages caused by the strong seismic event, in order to ensure the peace of mind and well-being of the users.
