Seismic activity registered after the two earthquakes of June 24 continues its downward trend, as reported the president of the General Staff for the Creation of Temporary Camps, Jorge Rodríguez.
In his report corresponding to this Tuesday, he explained that in recent days both the frequency and average magnitude of aftershocks have decreased: «To date, 689 events have been recorded, with 86 aftershocks on the 28th and 30 afterchocks on the 29th, which confirms a progressive decrease,» he stated.
Rodríguez emphasized that, although this data is encouraging, it does not represent the definitive end of the risk. «The fact that the frequency of aftershocks has decreased is good news, but it is not definitive news,» he noted.
He added that the reduction in magnitude is also positive, but equally insufficient to consider that the seismic threat has completely disappeared.
