Venezuela partaked at the 114th International Labour Conference

A delegation from the Venezuelan government met a successful high-level agenda from June 7 to 11 during the 114th International Labour Conference (ILC), where the Venezuelan delegation engaged in intensive diplomatic activity aimed at strengthening social dialogue.

The journey began with a bilateral meeting between the Minister of People’s Power for the Social Process of Labor, Carlos Alexis Castillo, and the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Gilbert F. Houngbo. This meeting provided an opportunity to examine the prospects for the bilateral relationship, where the Venezuelan government reaffirmed its progress in social dialogue and agreed to strengthen the lines of joint technical cooperation.

Likewise, relations in the South American region received a new impetus after a meeting between the Venezuelan minister and the ILO Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Ana Virginia Moreira Gomes, thus establishing a roadmap to bolster technical assistance in the country.

In the area of ​​trade union and ministerial diplomacy, was consolidated mutual institutional support and the strengthening of the regional alliance with various international trade union organizations. Likewise were established productive meetings to define a common socio-labor agenda to dinamize the bilateral agenda between ministries.

Finally, Venezuela reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to the well-being of childhood by participating in the high-level event for World Day Against Child Labor, entitled «Red Card to Child Labor: From Marrakech to Action.» In this space were shared national experiences in integral child protection.
