Unity and work are the premises of Delcy Rodríguez after being sworn in as acting president of Venezuela

“From all political, social, and economic sectors of Venezuela, we must pledge allegiance as a single country,” declared the Acting President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Eloína Rodríguez Gómez, during her swearing-in ceremony before the new leadership of the National Assembly, where she called for national unity and a joint effort for the development of the nation.

In a solemn ceremony held this Monday in the Salón Tríptico (Triptych Hall) of the Federal Legislative Palace, the Acting President reaffirmed her loyalty to the legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez and the leadership of President Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, who are being held captive in the United States (USA). Likewise, she referred to the challenges the country is facing, expressing her pain for the suffering inflicted on the Venezuelan people after the illegitimate military aggression of last January 3rd.

The Acting President swore “not to rest for a single minute” in order to guarantee peace in the Republic and the spiritual well-being of the people. She emphasized that her management, inspired by the Angostura Discourse of Simón Bolívar, will work to provide “social happiness, stability, and political security,” with a special focus on guaranteeing the future of Venezuelan children:

“Venezuela is not, and will never be, a colony of anyone,” she declared, stressing that her government will be a direct continuation of the Bolivarian project, and that she will care for the economic and social stability while is awaited the return of the Head of State.
