The National President emphasized that “this sword is the most glorious sword in our hands. Of course, the sword of Peru is a glorious one, we acknowledge it as such, and we give it that dignity permanently, but, this one sword was in battle, it actually led the troops … this sword was raised to proclaim the victory and the end of Spanish domination in Venezuela . This is the saber of the Liberator. ”
The Order Saber of the Liberator was instituted in connection with having commemorated yesterday, Saturday December 17, 186 years of the physical departure of the Father of the Homeland.
This piece was used by Bolivar at the Battle of Carabobo, and was given to General Rafael Urdaneta, who treasured it until his death and then it was passed under the protection of his family, who later handed it over to the Bolivarian Government.
