CNE complies with TSJ precautionary measures and suspend collection of 20% signatures


The Electoral Authority informed the country that has been notified by the Courts of the Republic, of the precautionary measures ordering to postpone any action that could have been generated as a result of the collection of 1% for expressions of will that is required to validate the mediation of the organization for political purposes, MUD.
The measures decided this Thursday, October 20 in the criminal courts of first instance in functions of control in Valencia; the third court of control of San Fernando de Apure; the court of first instance in duties of third of control from Aragua and the court of first instance in functions of control from Bolivar were decided following the admission of criminal charges for offenses of false attestation before a public official, use of a false act and supply of false data to the Electoral Power.
These decisions have resulted in the stoppage until further orders of the court, of the process of collecting a 20% of the manifestations of will, which was scheduled for next October 26, 27 and 28, and in which the National Electoral Council was working after completion of the first stage of a request made by the MUD political party last April.
In adherence to the constitutional framework, the CNE abides by the measures ordered by the courts and has issued instructions to postpone the collection process until further judicial investigation.
The Electoral Power reiterates its call for a national dialogue and democratic formula par excellence to preserve peace and stability of the Republic and makes itself available to the national political actors and institutions to assist in the search for the best conditions that make fruitful this meeting .
