Margarita welcomes today the Non-Aligned Countries


The 17th Summit of the Non-Aligned Countries Movement (NAM) begins today in Margarita, Nueva Esparta state, where Venezuela will receive the Pro-Tempore Presidency of the group. The meeting will be attended by delegations from 120 nations who will be in the country until Sunday.
The Minister of Communication and Information, Luis José Marcano, said through his Twitter account, @luisjmarcano that “The NAM summit contributes to safeguarding our sovereignty, understanding that Venezuela is a country being attacked by the empire”.
He said the meeting “Allows to strengthen relations with countries which have built partnerships in favor of the development of our country”.
Finally he said that the summit “Strengthens Venezuela’s leadership role in the world.”
Rouhani will deliver presidency:
Iran’s president, Hassan Rouhani, will travel on Friday to Venezuela to participate in the 17th NAM summit, in his condition as outgoing chairman of the multilateral group.
Rouhani will pass the rotating leadership of NAM to the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, as said the Head of the department of Communication and Information Dissemination of the Presidential office, Parviz Esmaeili, as reported Prensa Latina.
He added that the Persian ruler will also meet and exchange points of view with other Heads of State in parallel, bilateral meetings to the NAM great event in the island’s territory.
