Arreaza responds to Trump in the UN: We are ready to defend our sovereignty

The Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, said on Monday that “US President Donald Trump threatens Venezuela as if he had absolute dictatorial powers over sovereign states”.

In his view, the threats of the President of the US affect the peace of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and therefore “As the free people that we are, we are ready to defend our sovereignty”.

“I speak on behalf of a sovereign people, loving of respect and meeting the International Law”, he said. On the other hand, he recalled that in 2006 Commander Hugo Chavez warned about the necessary containment of threats to world peace.

Finally, he pointed out that the United Nations Organization (UN) should seek to eradicate the dictatorial unilateralism that it is being intended to impose, since, in his opinion, from that organism must be generated effective mechanisms to neutralize the warmongering pretensions. “We denounce that our people have been threatened by the US President, with the use of the most powerful military force in the world”, he said.

This was highlighted during his participation in the 72nd General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in New York.
